Charles SPARR’s family estate

10 generations of legacy

Since 1680, the SPARR Family has been writing the story of Alsace wines.  Passionate wine growers, generation has succeeded generation and has perpetuated the passion for working the land and creating wine.

More recently :

   

1861-1919 :
Charles  SPARR I worked the vineyards , marketed his production in Western Europe and started the activity of ‘Négoçiant-Gourmet’ to increase his wine sales.

 

1900-1976 :
Pierre  SPARR I developed a prosperous business in the wake of both World Wars, starting wider export sales of  a range of fine wines, from the best soils in Alsace.



   

1934 :
Charles  SPARR II has enlarged the family vineyards and together with his brother René is perpetuating ancestral traditions, through a richly varied range of grape varieties and different soil areas.  From the outset, they have been contributing to the advent of the Crémant d’Alsace and the famous Late Harvest wine.

 

1961 :
Pierre  SPARR II Oenologist , has been leading the production of the family’s domain to rustained viticulture practices and is imposing strict specifications in order to raise quality levels to those required by the most demanding sales markets.  Thus increasing sales to Northern Europe, North America and Asia.



   

1988 :

Charles  SPARR III a graduate in Vine Growing, Oenology and Sales Management  has set up the new operations centre in RIQUEWIHR, in order to develop, along with his father,  the company of the 21st century, in the heart of the Alsace Vineyards and  this also focuses on the emblematic soils of the family’s wine production.  A new page is about to be written for the greatest satisfaction of wine-lovers throughout the world.
